The Cebu Taoist Temple was built in 1972 by the Chinese community of Cebu City. Located in Beverly Hills Subdivision, this multi-tiered temple stands on top of a small hill at an elevation of 300m above sea level. It is the center of the Taoism religion in Cebu but is open even to non-worshipers from 8am to 5pm.
The temple was constructed in the year 2012. It was built as a symbol of the undying love and ceaseless devotion of Teodorico Soriano Adarna to his wife for 53 years, Leah Villa Albino-Adarna. If the surname sounds familiar it's because “Leah” is the grandmother of Kapamilya's very own talented actress, Ellen Adarna

According to the etched plaque at the base of the cross, it is actually made of more recent wood which covers the original crucifix planted in 1521. The story goes that upon his arrival upon the Philippine shores, Magellan ordered the cross set-up by his fellow explorers to mark Europe and Catholicism’s first contact with the islands. It is also believed by some that Magellan’s Cross is nothing more than a recreation of the original which was stolen or destroyed not long after it was placed.
